                <text>La iglesia de San Román de Tobillas es un edificio ampliamente estudiado por diversos motivos. Por un lado, conserva una serie de elementos de época prerrománica de gran interés hacia la zona de su cabecera y, además, su secuencia constructiva presenta una lectura estratigráfica razonablemente clara, lo que ha propiciado la realización de diversas campañas de investigación. Esta circunstancia, por desgracia, ha hecho que se prime el análisis de las fases constructivas que muestran sus muros en detrimento de sus revocos históricos, que han sido parcialmente destruidos, perdiendo con ello una información de gran relevancia.&#13;
En el muro norte conserva de forma parcial los restos pictóricos de un calvario tardogótico. Uno de los nichos de esta misma pared muestra en su intradós una decoración de la misma época, superpuesta a otra (probablemente) anterior, compuesta por un despiece simple rojo decorado con estrellas a modo de asterisco, todo ello sobre un fondo de cal blanca.&#13;

                <text>La iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción en Gopegi se construye, probablemente, entrado ya el siglo XIII (sobre un edificio previo). Las restauraciones han dejado a la luz toda la pintura original de las bóvedas, convirtiéndose en uno de los casos más relevantes de toda la provincia. Los paramentos se resuelven con un despiece lapidario fingido de líneas dobles en rojo sobre un fondo blanco. Toda la espina dorsal de la bóveda se decora con un motivo en zigzag, bordeado por unos sencillos roleos vegetales. &#13;
Se advierten más de una fase pictórica (el tramo de los pies es el más irregular en sus trazos y presenta más detalles). Las impostas se decoran con sencillas formas geométricas y sucesiones de arcadas. Llaman poderosamente la atención algunos de los motivos dibujados en almagre dentro de los sillares fingidos, a modo de “marcas de cantería” igualmente simuladas. Aparecen estrellas de diverso tipo, animales y formas geométricas de gran sencillez. </text>
